The Essentials

Sponsored students and their families have access to quality healthcare as needed. In April, 2021, we hired a full time nurse at LFCA so that we could have a trained professional with our students and staff at all times. Often times, local clinics cannot diagnose symptoms properly, leaving students misdiagnosed or untreated. Our nurse, Tsega Muluneh is in constant contact with Project HEAL’s staff in the United States and takes the necessary steps to obtain care if local options aren't qualified. Tsega leads health education including hygiene, nutrition and AIDS awareness with staff, students and parents, ensuring a safer quality of life both at school and at home.

Nutrition

Nutrition is key to success! Our sponsorship program allows us to provide two nutritious meals a day for our students and enables us to educate their families about the importance of a well balanced diet.

Medical

Project HEAL provides an annual physical for each student once a year. If students are in need of treatment Project HEAL covers expenses.

Sanitation

We take the necessary precautions to minimize the risk of infection and illness in our classrooms by implementing good hygiene practices. Multiple water spickets on site enable students and staff to wash hands frequently.
