Highlight of the upperclass students at Love for the Children Academy as they learn through manipulatives and creative exercises. 

While her children are at school, LFCA student's Hirut and Yared's Mother works at the local grain mill. She sifts grain into a flour like consistency that will eventually be used to make liquor. On the side, she also weaves baskets to sell at the market twice a week.

Chacha Stories highlights the making of injera by LFCA student Kidus's mother. Her daily work consists of making injera to sell to local villagers. Injera is apart of the traditional Ethiopian cuisine and is eaten with most meals. To learn more about LFCA, please visit www.projecthealethiopia.org

Making Injera

While their children are at school. Parents set out to find daily work to support their family. Making Injera is how one of our student's Mother supports their family. Injera is a spongelike flat bread that is a major staple in Ethiopian cuisine. It is baked over fire on a clay plate for 30 seconds. It is eaten with almost every meal. 

Each morning, students and teachers gather in the yard to hold a flag ceremony. During the ceremony, they sing Ethiopia's national anthem as well as sing fun songs to get the day started. To learn more about Love for the Children Academy please visit, www.projecthealethiopia.org

Love for the Children Academy's Cook prepares lunch for 78 students each day. With the help of her kitchen aid, they make a variety of meals for the students. A favorite being shiro atop of injera, a classic Ethiopian dish.

While their children are at school, parents are out finding daily work to support their family. A common job during the dry season is the drying and preparing of cow dung patties. Cow dung can be used in a variety of ways in the village from fuel for fire to the walls of homes.
