December Update
Love for the Children Academy is up and running as usual, despite political unrest in the Amhara region and throughout Ethiopia. There are still many displaced people traveling to Chacha and Debre Berhan to find a permanent home. We have enrolled many of the displaced children at Love for the Children Academy and are trying to find other ways to help those in need. The students are happy to be in school after a period of 2 weeks where the government shut down schools in an effort to keep everyone safe. We pray this does not happen again.
Our 4th and 5th grade students have started to attend English class on Saturdays. They are so eager to learn and we love giving them this extra opportunity to grow their English language skills. We are thankful for our teachers who are making the extra effort to help them succeed.
Uniform Distribution.
Our distribution was delayed this year but we are happy to report that all students have received a new uniform!
Christmas in the United States and Ethiopia
Merry Christmas from our staff, students and families at LFCA! Letters and a special gift were mailed to all sponsors this week! You should be receiving them very soon. The students really enjoyed putting these together for you and send all of our supporters greetings and well wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season.
As some of you may recall, Christmas is celebrated later in Ethiopia than it is here in the United States. In Ethiopia, Christmas is January 7th. As in previous years, we would like to provide the families and staff at LFCA with a hearty Christmas meal. We will be giving them each a chicken, cooking oil, spices and rice/pasta. Please consider contributing to this gift so that we can bless them all with a special Christmas meal to remember. The cost per family is approximately $15-$20, but any amount will help.
