Fikirte & Her Family
Love for the Children Academy student Fikirte lives with her parents and older sister. Much of the financial responsibility falls on Fikirte's Mother to support the family. For work, she will often milk cows and gather cow dung. After collecting dung in the field, she will then press and lay them out to dry. Once they have dried, she sells the patties to laborers who will use them to build homes or fuel fire. The Seboka family lives under a small overcrowded mud home that they rent from a landlord for $6 dollars a month. Prior to being sponsored, Fikirte's family was unable to afford to send her to school. Our sponsorship program has changed the life not only of Fikirte, but her family by relieving financial stress and providing their daughter with the tools she needs to succeed.
